Yesterday, Through The Door Promotions attended the Specialty and Fine Food Fair at Grand Hall, Kensington Olympia, a definitive event for showcasing artisan food and drink to high quality trade buyers. Exhibitors included delis, farm shops, independent retailers, restaurants, hotels, caterers and wholesalers, all looking to source fine food.
Exhibitions at the event included the Fine Food Forum, the Small Business Forum, the Business Mentoring Centre and the Specialty Chocolate Fair (which, is where you would have found us). Guests also got to see, and taste, the winners of the Great Taste Awards, and they were worthy of gold medals.
Throughout the day, we were subjected to various tastings of food and drink (it was horrific, really) including cheap champagne (their words, not ours), a selection of wines and cheeses, toffee vodka, olives and bread, chocolate, tea and cake. We even indulged and tasted buffalo meat – delicious!
The highlights of the event were the live cooking demonstrations in the Fine Food Forum, which focused on advice and tips from some of the industry’s most influential chefs including Tom Hunt, Shelina Permalloo and Will Moody. The live demonstrations provided us with information on the latest trends, and we joined in discussions regarding topical issues within the food industry.
The Fine Food Fair is considered a great opportunity for all businesses, from start-ups, independent retailers, SME’s and known brands, and there were countless networking prospects for both exhibitors and visitors (and countless tasting opportunities for us).
